YouTube may be making it a little difficult to find LGBT content on its platform by using filters to vet through videos.

Content creators noticed the censorship after scouring through the site in “restricted mode,” a security tool YouTube says is meant to, “screen out potentially objectionable content that you may prefer not to see or don't want others in your family to see on YouTube.”

Implementing the content guard renders offensive material unviewable by, “community flagging, age-restrictions, and other signals to identify and filter out potentially inappropriate content.”

However, some are wondering why LGBT content is lumped into the “inappropriate” index.

Critics say that subduing gay content beneath the “restrictive mode,” isn’t doing LGBT youth any good, especially when they need to see positive role models and uplifting voices in their time of need.

YouTube channel creator, and Twitter member “issa” noticed that some of his videos are being left out of his YouTube catalog with the filter on.

“What kind of message does that send to people struggling with their sexuality? oh yea, the message that their love for someone is RESTRICTED” he wrote on Twitter.

“So is @YouTube going to explain hiding LGBT related content through their "restricted" mode or are we going to act like that didn't happen?” issa asked in his feed.

YouTube released a Twitter statement on the issue, saying that the filters are in place for those, "who want a more limited experience."

The censorship may be due  to concerned parents enabling the safety switch, thus making LGBT videos invisible to kids.

Although this feature is a useful feature, it may also camouflage relevant and inspiring videos as well.
