The video obtained by TMZ shows a handler unsympathetic to to terrified dog.
If you have seen the trailer for “A Dog’s Purpose” you know that the film being released on January 27, is certain to be the tear-jerker of the year.
However, TMZ has uncovered some disturbing images of one of the animals used in the film who appears to be forced to do things he doesn't want to, just to get the shot.
The video shows two scenes, one involving a German Shepherd who seems unwilling to leap into the churning waters of a simulated river action scene, and another in which the dog is actually pulled under the water within the force of a special effect.
TMZ reports their sources say that eight outboard motors were used to create the effect of a rushing river, and when the dog is pulled under the simulated rapids, the crew yells “Cut it!” as the trainers immediately take action.
Amblin Partners and Universal Pictures have watched the video and say, “"Fostering a safe environment and ensuring the ethical treatment of our animal actors was of the utmost importance to those involved in making this film and we will look into the circumstances surrounding this video."
