This Lythgoe production gets the whole audience involved with Panto-style theater.
The stars are coming to San Diego to bring you one of the most magical holidays ever in “A Snow White Christmas” starting Dec. 2 through Dec. 24 at San Diego’s Lyceum Theatre.
Presented by the Lythgoe family and their innovative and immersive Panto theater style, the classic fairy tale gets a special twist and the whole audience gets to participate.
“For the past six years, the Lythgoes have been presenting their American Pantos in Los Angeles – these are so popular that they have very quickly become a holiday tradition there with sold out engagements every season,” said San Diego Theatres. “We recently had the opportunity to bring A Snow White Christmas to San Diego, based on the very popular holiday British Panto, and we are thrilled to be able to present this production, in association with the San Diego Repertory Theatre.”
Disney XD star Olivia Stuck (Kirby Buckets) will be in the title role, something she tells San Diego Gay and Lesbian News she is very excited to do this production; her first in live theater.
Original Broadway “Dreamgirl” herself Yvette Cason will take on the iconic role of the Wicked Queen.
And James Royce Edwards (Old Globe Theatre “October Sky,” Lamb’s Players “Mixtape,” Broadway “Mamma Mia!”) as Prince Harry.
Sitcom star and Broadway performer Neil Patrick Harris will make an on-screen cameo as The Magic Mirror.
There is also an abundance of behind-the-scenes talent with Chris Baldock directing and doing the choreography alongside the musical supervision of "American Idol’s” Michael Orland.
Lythgoe says that this cast of Broadway stars and regional performers is fun for all ages, in this their first San Diego production. And it’s a great way to introduce children to the arts.
“San Diego is a huge supporter of the arts and we are proud to expand Panto productions with San Diego Theatres and San Diego Repertory Theatre to another wonderful city," says Lythgoe.
“A Snow White Christmas” features family-friendly magic, with a comedic twist, dancing (with “So You Think You Can Dance” alumni), a live miniature pony and contemporary music from Katy Perry’s “Firework” to Huey Lewis and the News’ “Power of Love” to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and more.
Panto-style is interactive with humor that will appeal to everyone of all ages.
"A Snow White Christmas" will play at San Diego’s Lyceum Theatre starting Friday, December 2, and run through Saturday, December 24.
