The Broadway star can't confirm a lesbian storyline, but she can't deny one either.
Although Disney officials are not confirming any lesbian storyline to their sequel to 2013’s hit animated feature “Frozen,” one of its stars has a suggestion.
Broadway superstar and voice of Elsa, Idina Menzel, was interviewed by YouTube’s Tyler Oakley and when asked about her character possibly finding love with another woman in “Frozen 2” she joked:
“I cannot confirm or deny… if I tell you I would have to kill you! I think in Frozen one she was young, so she’s still figuring stuff out.”
Although Menzel isn’t giving anyone the scoop about the storyline, she did give Oakley her recommendation for Elsa's spouse after he put her on the spot.
“Tinkerbell,” she said.
Kristen Bell, who plays Anna in the film, was also a guest on the YouTube show and when she was asked about Elsa's love life, she too remained reticent.
“Whatever Elsa wants to do is up to her, and it’s up to us to support her,” she said.
Bell was able to confirm however, that a new spin-off of “Frozen” is nearly complete.
She said that Olaf, the side-kick snowman, will get his own feature next year with voice over and music having already been completed.
“Frozen 2” is expected to be released in 2018.
