San Diego Gay and Lesbian News’ own social columnist Jim Winsor has discovered that “Bull and Grain” will replace the now shuttered board game hang out and eatery Tabletop Commons on University Avenue.

Winsor ventured through Hillcrest today and noticed a “public notice of application for ownership change” with the applicant being listed as “Bull and Grain.”

You may remember Tabletop Commons as a place to indulge in burgers, desserts and beers on tap. The biggest draw was probably the wide array of board games customers could play while they dined.

It appears that "Bull and Grain" may retain some of that culinary appeal minus the well-stocked shelves of party games.

The new establishment has created a Facebook page with an estimated opening date of sometime later this year:

“Bull and Grain is an American style bar and grill,” their Facebook posting reads. “It was built on a vision Bull & Grain is an American style bar and grill. It was built on a vision of hand crafted, garden fresh dishes, along with delicious artisanal cocktails.

We are in the process of building out the restaurant and plan to open early September 2016.

We will offer a full-bar, a great outdoor patio and a relaxed atmosphere.

At Bull and Grain, you’ll find a great place to meet friends enjoy a delicious cocktail and surpress your cravings for a flavorful meal.

Located in the fantastic community of Hillcrest, San Diego. We are proud to call Hillcrest our home.”

We found a craigslist classified ad posted by "Bull and Grain," looking for an executive chef who "has the passion, focus, and drive that it takes to create a successful operation."
