The Padres' DJ will be joined by Adam Joseph for this special night of music and appreciation.
In a surprise addition to their Farewell to San Diego concert at The Music Box on Friday night, Danielle LoPresti and Alicia Champion have invited DJ Artform (Art Romero) along with pop star Adam Joseph to share the stage.
DJ Artform became a local celebrity of sorts when he mistakenly played the wrong sound file for The San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus (SDGMC) at Petco Park on May 21, sparking a worldwide controversy over the relationship between the LGBT community and the Padres.
The incident was investigated and found to be a human error, exonerating Romero of any malicious wrongdoing.
Now that the dust has settled and DJ Artform has been re-hired by the team, he is eager to return to his livelihood.
LoPresti and Champion originally wanted the SDGMC to reunite with the DJ at their farewell concert, but due to scheduling conflicts the chorus had to decline.
Special guest Adam Joseph will appear with DJ Artform. Joseph is a gay singer/songwriter whose tracks have been featured on MTV and the Logo Network. His single “Can’t Stop,” was a hit in 2010, making it to Sirius/XM satellite radio’s top 10 dance singles for the year.
LoPresti says that inviting DJ Artform to her concert is more than just a show of support, it sends a message to people that we must stand tall, but remain inclusive to our allies.
“This is a great opportunity to show graciousness and unity within our community,” LoPresti said. “What happened on the field was terribly unfortunate, but part of fighting for justice means we have to show that to others, even when we’re caught in the crossfire.”
She also applauds the SDGMC for their gratitude of DJ Artform after he apologized and went to great lengths to show he is a community ally, “that’s something to be celebrated," LoPresti adds.
The Farewell to San Diego concert will be held on Friday June 2, at The Music Box located at 1337 India St, San Diego, CA 92101
Red carpet arrivals will begin at 6:45 pm and the show kicks off at 7:45 pm.
While VIP seating is already sold out, general admission tickets are still available.
