"Purple Rain" singer was having some health issues recently causing him to cancel some concerts
The artist known as Prince has died.
The 57-year-old singer has been reportedly found at his Paisley Park compound early Thursday morning.
Multiple sources close to the star have confirmed his passing.
During his tour last week, he had to make an emergency landing in Illinois, but returned to the stage the next night to show fans that he was feeling fine.
The pop star has had some medical problems recently and cancelled a few of his shows to recover.
Prince emerged onto the scene with his song “I Wanna Be Your Lover” in 1978, from there he only escalated in popularity with albums such as “Controversy” and “1999.”
In 1984, he crossed over into cinema with the semi-autobiographical movie “Purple Rain,” a crtical and box office hit.
Prince sold over 100 million records during the course of his career and continued to make headlines with his song “Baltimore,” a tribute to the death of Freddie Gray.
