(Editor's note: "Tantrums and Tiaras: Battle of the Bar Queens 2015" returns on Sunday, Feb. 15 at Observatory North Park, formerly known as the North Park Theatre. The show is an over-the-top drag competition where representatives from some of the community’s bars with little or no drag experience compete for the crown. The event benefits The San Diego LGBT Community Center. Leading up to the event, we will profile the five contestants, but you'll have to buy tickets and go the show to find out their drag name and see them in full make-up! More information and tickets can be purchased HERE.)
Contestant Name: Robert Rodriguez
Bar representing: San Diego Eagle
First time in drag?
I might have dabbed in drag for a charity event with the Imperial Court, but this will be my first time competing in a pageant of this magnitude.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I'm currently a bartender at the San Diego Eagle on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and at Lips on Friday and Sunday brunch. I'm also a former Prince Royale of the Imperial Court de San Diego, Mr. San Diego Eagle 2013 and currently the 42nd Elected Emperor of San Diego of the Imperial Court de San Diego. This year, we have raised a little over $120,000 for our local charities in San Diego including The Center. Giving back to the community is what I enjoy doing and this is why I've decided to compete in Tantrums & Tiaras.
What are you most excited about?
I'm excited to see the final results of all the contestants.
What makes you most nervous about competing?
I'm very nervous that I'm gonna fall flat on my face with them heels.
Why are YOU going to win Tantrums & Tiaras?
I'm going to win, because I'm gonna give a little sass, a little ass and a whole lot of fun, lol!
Good luck to all the contestants and hold on tight to your wigs, clutch them pearls, and put on your seat beats, cause this is going to be a bumpy ride!!
