ESCONDIDO, Calif. -- One of the funniest dinner theater shows to hit San Diego in years, “Once Upon a Wedding,” will run Fridays and Saturdays from Aug. 16-31 with just eight performances at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido.
A complete evening with food, music, dancing and a feel-good show full of interactive entertainment, this musical comedy features hit songs from the Fifties to today, making it a treat for the whole family.
"Once Upon a Wedding" is produced and performed by Laughing Tree Productions, directed by Lisa Laughbaum, who also stars in the show as Liza, the wedding singer.
"This show is all about fast-paced laughs and interactive entertainment," Laughbaum said. "The audience really becomes like a part of the family, and gets to experience all the joys of attending a real wedding without the pressure of buying a perfect gift. After all, every wedding needs its crashers!"
The unique experience of "Once upon a Wedding" includes a gourmet dinner, wedding cake, coffee service, a champagne toast and non-stop entertainment from the moment the audience arrives.
The show's synopsis is as follows:
“Once Upon a Wedding” follows Daisy Dudley and Davis Do-Wright as they celebrate their love in front of family and friends on their wedding day. But what should be the happiest day of their lives quickly turns into mayhem with mishaps of epic proportions. When the wedding coordinator, minister, and wedding party go missing, Daisy decides she can't continue, and it's up to the wedding coordinator-in-training and the wedding singer to keep the day from becoming a complete disaster. The shenanigans of Daisy's less-than-happy parents, her great-uncle Julie, and Davis’ free-spirited sister, Debbie, make for a hilarious laugh-out-loud good time.
