Jennifer Lopez talks about her new TV series about a lesbian family | VIDEO

LOS ANGELES -- Superstar Jennifer Lopez is adding another notch to her belt, executive producer on ABC Family’s “The Fosters.”

Renee Bargh of "Extra"caught up with JLo, who chatted about the show and grocery shopping.

JLo said “The Fosters,” which focuses on a lesbian couple raising a multi-ethnic family, is very reflective of how families are today and very timely.

“The themes are very basic and what I believe in, which is family equals love,” she said. “The fact that gay marriage is becoming legal now in so many places and there's a controversy surrounding it. But at the end of the day, it does exist, and to keep pretending that it doesn't is really I feel, like irresponsible because there are children that do grow up in these families and you dint want them feeling that their weird or not normal, you want them to know that as long as they are surrounded by love that’s the most important thing.”

Jlo, who has been on set of the show, is not sure if she will make a cameo, despite rumors.

“I don’t know, it’s like make the cameo and bring attention to it. … At the end of the day I feel like this show stands alone,” she said.

JLo also revealed that she goes grocery shopping with her real family.

“My son loves to go to the supermarket, he says mommy when are you going to take me to the supermarket,” she said.

Renee said she was surprised that Jen goes to the grocery store near her house, Jen saying, “I'm a normal person, SEE! There is no normal, that's the moral to this story, to this series, to everything.”
