ESCONDIDO, Calif. -- With an abundance of live theater options in San Diego County, many locals are not aware of the gem that exists within the Welk Resort in North County - currently staging the classic Broadway musical "South Pacific."
Director/producer Joshua Carr is at the helm for this classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical masterpiece that focuses on WWII and the developing relationship between a Frenchmen and an Arkansas girl who grapple with issues of racial inequality in those times. With lush, beautiful musical numbers such as "Bali Hai," "Some Enchanted Evening," "Cockeyed Optimist," "There Is Nothing Like a Dame" and "Wash The Man Right Outa My Hair," this production continues to be a crowd-pleaser, week after week.
The show was choreographed by San Diego favorite Ray Limon, and Welk regular Justin Gray serves as musical director.
The production runs through March 17, with shows on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturday and Sundays.
Tickets start at $45, and a pre-show buffet can be added for $18, or Sunday brunch for $21.
