Fortune Feimster swings into San Diego this weekend

Fortune Feimster wants to tickle your funny bone this weekend in the Gaslamp.

Feimster originally gained fame as a comedian on the traditional comedy circuit but her presence this past year as a writer, roundtable participant and purveyor of slapstick SNL-style comedy on Chelsea Handler’s popular late-night show has skyrocketed this lesbian funny woman’s career into unexpected Diva heights.

Not only did she participate in a hilarious Honey Boo Boo skit on Chelsea Lately that went viral this fall, with the help of a great make-up artist she also found a way to embody Khloe Kardashian in an ensemble sketch filled with inescapable humor.

The comedian also just learned a sitcom she pitched to ABC has been picked up. Feimster is sharing writing privileges with Brian Jarvis and Jim Freeman and teaming up with Handler’s “Borderline Amazing” production company and will also star in the show.

She describes the new sitcom, to be called “Discounted,” as “an ensemble show … about a furniture store in North Carolina.”

So before “Discounted” takes off and Feimster’s star flies too high to catch, you have four opportunities to experience her up-close-and-personal this weekend yourself, when she screeches into town for four gigs at the American Comedy Club Downtown in the Gaslamp.

Opening for Feimster’s 50-minute set will be a couple other comics, with shows starting at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. each of the two nights. The comedian assures it will be worth the ticket price.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” she said. “I’ll be doing a meet and greet after each show where people can say hi or take pictures. I even promise to do the robot.”

Just this year, Feimster was a staple at the Dinah Shore Weekend in Palm Springs, one of the three lesbian comedians who partook in the Queer Queens of Qomedy at the Birch North Park Theatre, and hosted the Flawles Pool Party event at the Andaz Downtown during Pride weekend.

American Comedy Company is located at 818 B Sixth Ave. For more information or to buy tickets, visit HERE or call 619-795-3858.
