Jim Winsor's Out & About: Rufskin 10 Year Anniversary Party set for Saturday

Locally owned and operated Rufskin, one of the hottest international men's fashion brands, will celebrate its 10 year anniversary this Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Rufskin Boutique, 3944 30th St. in North Park.

The event will go from 6-10 pm. This party is always a great opportunity to meet and mingle with some of the designers and models ... especially the models!

The Mustache Bash at Bourbon Street

After the Rufskin party wraps up at 10 pm, it's off to the official after-party of the event, the Mustache Bash at Bourbon Street. A party to benefit the fight against prostate cancer, everyone who makes a donation to the cause will get a mustache to wear.

The evening will include music by DJ Lil Chris, drink specials, hot mustache go-go dancers and free SDPIX VIP memberships. And since it's Bourbon Street, there is no cover all night long.

The Return of Montage at Spin

For some late night action on Saturday, head over to Spin for Michael Mack's monthly Return of Montage.

Tonight will not only feature the music of DJ Paulo, but it will also be a big double birthday night for David Van Whittemore and David Cope. They are calling it Whittemore & Cope Blackout Birthday, and given who's involved here I'm sure it will have no trouble living up to its name.

Goodbye to Nigel at Flicks

As I mentioned here in this column almost two months ago, Flicks is now under new ownership. The previous owner (and prominent community activist) Nigel Mayer is moving to Las Vegas, to begin a new life adventure there.

However, this coming Tuesday, from 6-8 pm, Nigel and his partner Nich will be stopping by Flicks for one last goodbye! In an email sent to friends and supporters this week, he writes:

"... I would love your company if it's just for 5 minutes next week to just say goodbye, as I don't want to leave without at least having the opportunity to thank many of you for supporting me at Flicks over the years. Also give you the chance to meet the awesome guys who will continue with the Flicks tradition which is almost 30 years in San Diego.

I have had the opportunity to work with the best staff over the years and would give them the shirt off my back for their loyalty, honesty and integrity. I wish I could take them all with me, but you as a city will continue to enjoy their qualities for years to come.

Please mark next Tuesday in your calendar from 6-8 pm for a drink with me.

Thanksgiving Eve festivities

Next Thursday is Thanksgiving. That means this coming Wednesday is "Thanksgiving Eve," which is traditionally one of the busier nights at many of the local gay establishments here. That said, here's a round up of some of the notable pre-Turkey Day events planned around town that evening:

5 pm | Turkey Baster Ball at Gossip Grill

8 pm | Biggest Club Night of the Year at 1202

8 pm | SDPIX presents The Dreamgirls Revue and Turkeyball at Urban Mo's

9 pm | Club Papi presents the Nite B/4 Thanksgiving Extravaganza at the Brass Rail

10 pm | Gobble Gobble Party at Rich's
