Akinori Sushi to offer San Diego Beer Week menu

SAN DIEGO -- To celebrate San Diego Beer Week, taking place through Nov. 11, Hillcrest's newest sushi bar, Akinori, will host a special beer and food event, "Monkey Fish 2012."

Owner and chef Sato Akinori has tailored a special menu, which includes a four course sushi experience, paired with four of the innovative beers from Money Paw Brewery in East Village.

The special menu will be available through Nov. 10 for $60, and be served while supplies last. Monkety Paw's brewmaster Derek Freese and owner Scott Blair will be at Akinori on Tuesday, Nov. 6 and Thursday, Nov. 8 from 6-8 pm to discuss their beers and pairings.

The special menu includes:

First Course

Yellowtail Carpaccio - Truffle oil, tosazu jello, ponzu marinated roasted jalapeno, pink peppercorn, yuzu, hawaiian sea salt and fried leek;

Paired with Monkey Gose Bananas with Tart Cherry - Gose style Ale – 3.7% ABV.

Second Course

Unagi roll with seared halibut - Tokyo bam bam aioli, cream cheese, shiso, jalapeno in chipotle miso purée

Crispy spicy kanpachi and Fried Striped bass and sweet potato skewer with vanilla sour cream

Grilled miso marinated Chilean Sea Bass

Paired w/ Low and Slow - Rauchbier (Smoked Lager) – 5.4% ABV

Third Course

Salmon and Yellowtail belly nigiri sushi w/ truffle balsamic vinegar and ghost pepper salt;

Albacore box sushi Asparagus, chive and black tobiko. Bell pepper and Kabocha puree;

Paired with Cornelius San Diego IPA 9.6%

Fourth Course

Blue Fin Tartare served atop fried rice Cube with 911 Sauce;

Salmon & mango tartare with tempura squash, Lotus root, black tobiko and caramel lime in habanero salsa;

Paired with Ashes from the Grave Smoked Brown 6.66%
