The incomparable Lena Horne portrayed Glinda the Good Witch and Mabel King is Evillene, the Wicked Witch of the West.
Richard Pryor goes behind the curtain to play The Wiz.
“The Wiz” received four Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Original Music Score and Best Cinematography, but the film was panned by critics and flopped at the box office.
“The Wiz” will be shown at 7 pm Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Birch North Park Theatre, 2891 University Ave.
