Jim Winsor's Out & About: Rufskin Fashion Show set for Saturday at Rich's

You'll definitely want to be at Rich's on Saturday night, as it will be a fun-filled evening with many attractions, starting with Rufskin and its annual fashion show.

As was the case in past years, the uber-hot Rufskin models, plus an extra special guest star model, will strut down the runway wearing the North Park-based company's latest swim wear, underwear and jeans, this year with a South African inspired theme. The show will definitely boost the temperature in Rich's a few degrees, so I recommend dressing lightly!

For a preview of what to expect, check out our photos from past years here and watch a sample of last year's show at the bottom of this column.

Luis Perez and Chad Brown's Going Away Party

And that's not the only big thing going on at Rich's on Saturday ... Dylan Jones and Marcel Hetu are hosting a going away party for one of San Diego's most adorable couples and favorite DJ, Chad Brown and DJ Luis Perez. Yep, they'll be moving to New York City, with the move expected to be complete by June 1. So, come out and give them a huge farewell they'll never forget!

Nick "Pickle" Carpenter's Big Dill Birthday Party

And there's more! Also going on at Rich's Saturday will be Nick Carpenter's 24th birthday party, which officially marks the day when "... he is turning into a man! From Twink to Hunk." "Party Rock" attire (neons, fanny packs, animal print pants out of control, etc.) is requested.

Range Kitchen & Cocktails Dining Out For Life Prohibition Party

And there's a ton of stuff going on tonight (Thursday) as well.

For starters, Dining Out For Life is today, and The Range will be commemorating it with a Prohibition themed party.

The Range will be turned into a "Speakeasy" in which guests will enter through a nondescript side door and give the doorman the secret password, which you can get here (Spoiler alert! It's "growler").

And there’s more! If you dress in Prohibition era clothes, one of the beer sponsors (Batch 19) will give you a free beer upon entry.

The fun starts at 7 pm, with a rally at 8 pm that will march down University Avenue. Picket signs will be provided, supporting Dining Out For Life and HIV/AIDS awareness.

Then a costume contest will be at 9 pm, with the winner receiving a $1 Batch 19 at The Range every day in the month of May (limit 1 per day). Not bad!

Brazilian Night at #1 Fifth Avenue

Also happening tonight (Thursday) is Brazilian Night at #1 Fifth Avenue. They did this for the first time last month, and it was a ton of fun - with live entertainment by the Super Sonic Samba School and the Dani Lasalvia Trio: Samba Sereno, plus music by DJ M&M. The Festivities kick off at 7 pm.

Ink & Steel at the Eagle

If you're into tattoos and piercings, then you'll want to be at the Eagle tonight (Thursday) for the bar's second-ever Ink & Steel contest. Hosted by Mr. San Diego Eagle 2012 Eli, you can help him judge the winner! Doors open at 9 pm, and the competition starts at 10 pm.
