SAN DIEGO -- Those who are making plans to travel to San Diego this summer for the annual San Diego LGBT Pride Parade and Festival, "America's Pride," should look to San Diego Pride's official partner hotels.
The organization recently announced that the W San Diego Hotel and Manchester Grand Hyatt will serve as the official headquarter hotels for the 2012 season, along with a number of other local hotels that are participating in Pride's travel program.
“Our hotel partners are committed to providing excellent service for our out-of-town guests attending America’s Pride this summer,” said Dwayne Crenshaw, San Diego Pride's executive director. "San Diego Pride weekend is a vacation destination for thousands of people, and it is important to all of us that their experiences are unforgettable, from their accommodations to the events they attend."
Other participating hotels include Porto Vista Hotel in Little Italy, Hampton Inn San Diego Airport, Courtyard Marriott San Diego Central, and many more throughout the San Diego. Partner hotels are offering San Diego Pride patrons exclusive discounts that cannot be found anywhere else. These hotel partners also support equality by returning a portion of room rates to San Diego Pride to assist with LGBT organizations, causes and community activities.
By booking directly through San Diego Pride’s online travel portal, guests will receive the best rooms available at the Pride discount rate.
The recently announced 2012 theme of San Diego Pride weekend is “America’s Pride.”
“We chose this year’s theme based on the idea that equality is an American value,” Crenshaw said. “While there is still so much to do, America is finally reaching the winning side of the battle for equality, and we want San Diego and our visitors to celebrate that.”
San Diego Pride also says that it will once again support active duty servicemembers, veterans, and their families during this year’s events. In 2011, San Diego Pride was the first Pride in the nation to include an active duty military contingent in a Pride Parade. This year, following the repeal of the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy, LGBT servicemembers and veterans from all over the country are invited to come to San Diego to be saluted during “America’s Pride” and to participate in the second annual military parade contingent.
To take advantage of the discounted hotel rates, travelers must book their accommodations through the San Diego LGBT Pride travel portal.
