The Mr. San Diego Eagle Contest is this weekend.
Friday at 10 pm will by the "meet and greet" portion of the competition, and the contest will take place beginning at 9 pm Saturday.
There should be quite a crowd there for this, as the winner will go on to represent San Diego at the International Mr. Leather 2012 contest in Chicago in May. I've been told there's been a lot of interest this year, with at least five contestants and seven judges participating.
PEREZidents Day Party at Eden
This Monday is Presidents Day, a holiday (yay!), and what better way is there to celebrate than to stay out late all night Sunday and party? And for that, your best bet looks to be the PEREZidents Day party at Eden, with DJ Luis Perez.
And by the way, Eden is launching a couple other new events this weekend you'll want to check out: Saturday night is the debut of iRage, with DJ Dawna Montel, while this Sunday morning/afternoon is the launch of Sunday Skool, which'll feature $10 bottomless mimosas, a bloody mary bar, new brunch menu and old skool beats, all under the strict tutelage of bartenders Brooklyn Pearlman, Shenoa Vild and Brian Page.

Masks are highly encouraged, and a 1.75 liter bottle of Ketel One Vodka will be given to the bearer of the best one. Suggested door donation is $5, which'll get you an open bar plus light appetizers all night.
Absolut Hillcrest Mardi Gras
But on Tuesday, of course, is the huge Mardi party we've been waiting all year for: The Absolut Hillcrest Mardi Gras 2012 street fair in front of Mo's, from 6 to 11 pm. Hosted by the GSDBA Charitable Foundation and the Hillcrest Business Association, it's also a charity event that's raised $160,000 for neighborhood improvements and LGBT Youth Scholarships.
This year's event promises to be another fun-filled evening featuring food, live entertainment, costumes and of course, beads! And there'll be stages ... BIG stages! The Viejas main stage will have live entertainment going all night hosted by Tootie and the Lips girls, while Rich's will be setting up their massive outdoor dance stage - the same one, I believe, they wow'ed us with back in September during that incredible Super Beach party. And they'll be bringing in a full DJ lineup as well, including DJ Marcel Hetu, DJ Taj, DJ Nikno, and DJ Dirty Kurty.
Tickets are on sale now: General admission tickets are $15 ($20 day of) and VIP tickets are $50 ($75 day of), and can be purchased at Urban Mo's, Mankind, Baja Betty's, and online here.
Last week's events
Check out SDPIX for all the action from last week, including new albums from Laugh Out Proud at Martinis Above Fourth, Repent at Rich's, So You Think You Can Drag at Lips, and the big march and rally in support of the recent Prop 8 court decision and the soon-to-be Hillcrest Pride flag.
