Bourbon Street is back! University Heights bar and restaurant to resume popular nightlife events tonight

SAN DIEGO – After a brief entertainment hiatus, Bourbon Street Bar & Grill will resume its music, dancing and special-events lineup on Thursday, Dec. 1.

The popular bar and restaurant has long been a place for San Diego’s LGBT community to come together, eat, drink, celebrate and oftentimes attend events that support charities. The bar plans to kick off the month with a big lineup of special events, including the return of customer favorites such as Karaoke Tuesdays, WET Thursdays, the Dreamgirls Revue on Saturdays and the Sunday women’s night.

SDPIX will bring back WET starting tonight, with a special edition of the wet underwear competition hosted by Benny Cartwright and Bunny Baxter. Participants will compete for $1,000 in cash and prizes.

The evening will also include music by DJ Lil Chris, dancing and drink specials all night long.

Other special Thursday promotions, in conjunction with WET, include the Gay Days 8 CD Release Party with DJ Marcel on Dec. 15 and GuySpy night on Dec. 29.

Bourbon Street has always been a weekend destination, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings will feature a fun lineup.

Tori Heart will continue to entertain the crowds on Friday and Saturday nights with “Midnight Madness,” which include $1 shots and other specials at midnight. DJ Marcel Hetu will spin on Friday, Dec. 2.

On Friday, Dec. 9, SDPIX will present a holiday-theme party at the bar called “Naughty Santa” featuring “The Men of Dirty Tony,” and music by DJ Marcel. Saturday, Dec. 10 will be the Global Groove Dance 4 CD Release Party, with music by DJ Lil Chris.

A holiday toy drive, benefitting Toys for Tots, will be held on Friday, Dec. 16. Customers who bring an unwrapped toy will get $5 in Bourbon Bucks, and Bourbon Street will donate an additional toy for each toy donated. DJ Manny Lehman will spin.

The Dreamgirls Revue will return to the stage on Saturdays for their weekly show on Dec. 3 followed by DJ Michael Carrera, with their special “Dreamgirls Christmas Party” on Dec. 17, sponsored by SDPIX, followed by DJ Lil Chris.

The ladies have made Bourbon Street home on Sunday nights, and this end of week party will be bigger than ever, with dancing, DJs and other features. On Sunday, Dec. 4, Ladies Night will include a go-go contest with $500 in cash and prizes, $2 Jaeger shots all night long, music by DJ Dirty Kurty. The evening will also serve as a fundraiser for All Out @ City, an LGBT student group at San Diego City College.

Weeknight revelers, especially the Tuesday night crowd, will be happy to see the return of Bourbon Street’s popular karaoke night, hosted by Erik Swanson, with a special karaoke night Dec. 13 with $1,000 cash and prizes.

On Wednesday, Dec. 14, Nicole and Allan will host “Holiday Charity Bingo” which will include over $2000 in prizes and benefit The Trevor Project and A Note To My Kid.

Those who bring a donation of a toy will receive their first bingo card free.

During the holidays, Bourbon Street will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 24, but will be open the night of Christmas Day, Sunday, Dec. 25, for a special “Naughty Mrs. Claus” ladies night. The event will include another round of the go-go contest with $1,000 in cash and prizes, with the winner receiving a go-go gig at the bar.

To close out the month, the bar will host a New Year's Eve party on Saturday, Dec. 31, with a balloon drop of $2,012 in Bourbon Bucks, a champagne toast and music by DJ Shane Stiel.

Bourbon Street’s restaurant continues to serve food each day until 10 pm, with the bar open until 2 am. Bourbon Street’s fun New Orleans-themed patio will remain open every night until 2 am.
