SAN DIEGO – The creative team at Alternative Strategies have joined forces with 11 of North Park’s top restaurants and bars to bring you a one-of-a-kind event on Monday, April 25.
The North Park Pub Sprawl is your chance enjoy $5 drinks specials among “the trendy, the trashy, and the tipsy” from 8 pm until midnight.
Daniel Lara, Alternative Strategies’ Marketing Coordinator, is the man behind this unique concept.
"North Park does not follow trends, it sets them," Lara said. "We knew from the beginning we wanted to create something different. Unlike a Pub Crawl, a Pub Sprawl is not about getting completely drunk -- you can if you want to -- the idea is for you to set your own pace, come with whoever you want, and enjoy the different spots while getting a great deal on drinks that really reflect what each place has to offer."
"These places are already the prime spot North Park in terms of bars and atmosphere, and they are amongst the local favorites," added Media Relations Manager Lauren Kennedy. "This event is an opportunity for them to come together and showcase what they offer."
Getting the vendors to participate was not difficult. “We have worked with True North and West Coast Taverns before, but a lot of these places know each other; they are a close-knit group of businesses, so word of mouth spread pretty quickly.”
"We love this neighborhood; it’s really an up-and-coming area that is getting a lot more attention," Kennedy continued. "This is the first event of its kind that we are putting together, and depending on the outcome, we would like to see it become a recurring event."
Get Your Sprawl On
If you were looking for something to do Monday night, no need to look any further; just make sure you have plenty of cash on hand.
The $5 tickets are available for purchase the day of the event at True North Tavern and West Coast Tavern, but are valid at all 11 participating locations. Organizers wanted each of the participants to have flexibility, so you may also just visit each location and get the $5 special without a ticket.
However, the advantage to purchasing tickets is that for every five tickets you purchase, you will get a chance to win a raffle prize.
"Most of the participants are providing $25 gift cards," Lara said. "We also have event sponsors like Radio Sophie who usually tend to have their own prizes, and I am still working on getting additional prizes prior to the event."
THE $5 SPECIALS
Participating North Park Pub Sprawl bars and restaurants are making every effort to impress attendees with the $5 deals.
"I am a vodka man myself," Lara said. "I really like True North’s Moscow Mule and Barefoot’s Wild Island Iced Tea. But every kind of drink option is available: beer, wine, and sangria."
Lara also mentioned that some participants will feature additional happy hour specials on food and other signature drinks.
