Restaurant recipe spotlight: The La Jolla Strip Club

San Diego-based and family-owned Cohn Restaurant Group recently opened the La Jolla Strip Club, a new 21-and-up, “grill-your-own” steak restaurant and vodka lounge in the UTC. Based on the award-winning Gaslamp Strip Club, the La Jolla Strip Club restaurant features a casual, friendly atmosphere that is a welcome alternative to expensive, stuffy steak houses.

“The La Jolla Strip Club is the kind of joint where you would find James Bond enjoying martinis and steaks with Charlie’s Angels,” said David Cohn, president of the Cohn Restaurant Group. “Our provocative décor and menu items create the best atmosphere for enjoying the fun things in life – such as breaking the ice on a blind date, having a cool girls’ night out and more.”

La Jolla Strip Club, located at 4282 Esplanade Court, is open for lunch (full service) Monday through Friday and “grill-your-own” dinner, seven days a week. The restaurant also features a premier vodka lounge with $7 martinis all-day, everyday, with a large selection of more than 100 different vodkas.

The Strip Club’s Perfect Signature Strip Steak

1 12oz Choice Center Cut New York Strip
1 Cup of Olive Oil
½ Cup Worcestershire
¼ Cup Saucy Sauce (the Strip Club’s homemade spicy steak sauce available at both the Gaslamp and La Jolla locations)
¼ Cup Strip Club Rub (the Strip Club’s signature steak rub available at both the Gaslamp and La Jolla locations)
1 Teaspoon Kosher Salt and Cracked Black Pepper

Combine all ingredients and coat the meat thoroughly. Marinate for at least 24 hours turning the steak over in the marinade every 4 hours.

After 24 hours, take the steak out of the marinade and pat dry with a paper towel. Let the steak stand at room temperature for 20 minutes. Dredge the steak in the Strip Club Rub until both sides are coated thoroughly. Add the kosher salt and cracked black pepper as well.

Place on a pre-heated 450 degree grill and cook a total of 10 minutes ( 5 minutes per side). When the 10 minutes is up, pull the steak from the grill let it rest for 3-5 minutes as to not extract all the juices and flavor.

After the resting period you are ready to serve a perfect medium rare New York Strip.
