Memorial Day weekend has come and gone - and it sure was like none we've ever experienced before. This year's summer kick-off didn't include any big parties, traveling was only for essential purposes, and the beaches were only open for activities like walking, jogging and swimming.

With California still under stay-at-home orders, most of our fun these days consists of either taking the dog for a walk, standing in line at the grocery store, or picking up take out food.

Many in the community have been missing Urban Mo's delicious food and strong cocktails since the bar and grill had to close due to the COVID-19 crisis, but customers will have some opportunities to enjoy some of their Mo's favorites in the coming weeks.

#1 Fifth Avenue will present a virtual COVIDeo Kiki on Saturday, May 9 at 7 pm via the Twitch platform. The show will feature some of the veue's favorite performers include KC Starr, Barbie Z, Vanity Jones, Nomi D'Shire, and DJ Pur Flo.

The lineup is packed with lots of excitement and energy for you to party away on Saturday night in your own home.

Many San Diegans are missing their favorite restaurants, bars, and hangout spots since most have now been closed since mid-March due to the COVID-19 crisis. While it's not quite time for these establishments to re-open for normal in-person service, many are offering their menus for customers to enjoy in their own homes.

Baja Betty’s is one of the many businesses in Fabulous Hillcrest that is finding creative ways to serve its customers during these challenging times. While most people are staying safe at “home sweet homo,” the popular Cali-Mex inspired restaurant and bar is offering party packs to-go, a limited food and cocktail menu, and special edition Baja Betty’s “Home Sweet Homo” blouses!

While bars and dance clubs remain closed and community members spend most of their days and nights at home, Urban Mo's is bringing a special online T-dance this Sunday, May 3 from 1-5 pm.

In normal times, Mo's is a popular Sunday hotspot, and the venue has brought a number of online party opportunities to its followers since near the beginning of the stay at home orders.

The Studio Door in Hillcrest will host a virtual art auction on May 1-2 to help keep art alive in San Diego.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, San Diego's Diversionary Theatre, like most other theater companies around the world, has had to cancel its public productions for the unforeseen future.

Hillcrest is open for business! Even in these uncertain times of social distancing, restrictions on gathering, and many non-essential businesses being closed, Hillcrest’s popular dining scene is still available for take-out and delivery!
