The organization also made endorsements in some other 2022 races.
At their meeting last night, the San Diego Democrats for Equality endorsed Dr. Jennifer Campbell for re-election to the San Diego City Council in 2022, representing District 2.
Campbell, who is a member of the LGBTQ community, was first elected to the San Diego City Council in 2018. In Dec. 2020, she was elected by the City Council to serve in the high-profile Council President role.
In a surprise vote last week, the City Council on 5-4 vote decided to oust Campbell from the President role and install Councilmember Sean Elo-Rivera in the position.
Campbell will continue serving her current term through Dec. 2022 with hopes of being re-elected for another 4-year term.
The Dems for Equality also endorsed Dr. Tiffany Boyd-Hodgson for County Supervisor District 5 and Joseph C. Rocha for Congress last night.
Endorsements by the San Diego Democrats for Equality have traditionally held weight with many in the LGBTQ communtiy who identify as Democrats.
