The San Diego Union-Tribune featured a column this week discussing the Center in Oceasnide's 10 years.
Carlos Tabora’s first encounter with the North County LGBTQ Resource Center was actually a series of firsts.
The occasion was the center’s signature Pride By the Beach festival, which Tabora attended in 2012 with his first boyfriend. It was Tabora’s first-ever Pride event, his first introduction to the center, and his first inkling that there was actually a thriving gay community in North County.
It was also the first time he felt at home in the place where he grew up.
It would not be the last.
