Water will be shut off in certain areas around Hillcrest next week

Here is an update from the  University Avenue Pipeline Replacement Project. and what areas will be affected for water shut off. 

This project will take place in the Mission Hills, Uptown, Hillcrest, University Heights and North Park areas of San Diego, with work occurring in phases at particular locations along the alignment of the project.

Here's what's happening: 

As a part of the Capital Improvements Program (CIP) project to replace the water mains in your community, a water service outage will take place in the areas listed below on the day and during the hours mentioned.

Water service will be temporarily turned off at 9 pm Monday, May 8 to 6 am Tuesday, May 9

  • 1700-1900 Robinson Avenue (between Centre and Florida streets)
  • 3600-3800 Park Boulevard (between University and Brookes avenues)
  • 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue (between Park Boulevard and cul-de-sac west of Park Boulevard)
  • 3600 Indiana Street (between Myrtle Avenue and slightly north of Cypress Avenue) 
  • 3600 Crestwood Place (Robinson Avenue and cul-de-sac south of Cypress Aveenue)
  • 3700 Georgia Street (between Georgia Court and slightly south of University Avenue)
  • 3700 Florida Street (between Florida Court and slighty south of Cypress Avenue)

About the water shut off:

During construction, anticipate temporary inconveniences. Please exercise caution in the work zone and note that: 

  • Please plan as if there were no water service throughout the shut-off time.
  • Access to homes, businesses and for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
  • Construction crews will work as quickly as possible to restore service.
  • Pipe, fittings, equipment and storage containers will be staged on side streets.
  • Safety measures will be implemented to ensure bicyclists and pedestrians will be allowed access throughout construction.

How your neighborhood may be impacted: 

During construction, anticipate temporary inconveniences. Please exercise caution in the work zone and note that: 

  • No parking inside working areas during working hours. "No Parking" signs will be posted 48 hours in advance of work. Cars parked in violation of sign  will be towed.
  • Temporary road closures, traffic rerouting, parking and access restrictions during hours of operation will be necessary.

Normal hours and days of operation: 

Monday through Thursday 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.*
