PRESS RELEASE: Dwayne Crenshaw receives Victory Fund endorsement for San Diego City Council

SAN DIEGO -- The Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund today announced its endorsement of San Diego LGBT Pride’s Executive Director, Dwayne Crenshaw, in the upcoming special election for the District 4 City Council seat created by the resignation of Tony Young.

"Dwayne Crenshaw stands out for his leadership on advancing issues of fairness and equality for the LGBT and all marginalized, underserved communities in San Diego. Dwayne’s commitment to inclusion will be very valuable as he seeks to represent the city’s most diverse council district," said Chuck Wolfe, president and CEO of the Victory Fund. "His election would send a strong message about the great strides our community has taken toward full acceptance."

The Victory Fund is the nation's largest LGBT political action committee and the only national organization dedicated to growing the number of openly LGBT elected officials at all levels of government throughout the United States. In 2012, Victory endorsed 180 candidates, with 124 of those going on to win their races, including U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., and six members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

"I am honored to have the endorsement of the Victory Fund," said Dwayne Crenshaw. "The Victory Fund supports viable, qualified candidates for office and has a great record of supporting winners. I am humbled by their confidence in my campaign."

Dwayne Crenshaw is a native San Diegan and current resident of the O’Farrell/South Encanto neighborhood of District 4. He earned his law degree from California Western School of Law and his BA degree from San Diego State University. A full bio and more campaign info can be found HERE.
