COMMENTARY: Chick-fil-A flap is a lot more than just about chicken

The Chick-fil-A flap is driving me insane.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn are among the powerful civic leaders who have spoken out against Chick-fil-A after its president said he was "guilty as charged" of using corporate profits to support anti-gay groups.

I am an avid supporter of Barack Obama and Democratic ideals to expand LGBT rights. But do I believe that government should use a pulpit to intimidate businesses? No!

But when Quinn says she feels like her family is being attacked, we should perk our ears up and listen to the clarion call from the speaker. What she is saying is truly a bullhorn to our generation:



The Right is wrongly claiming that the condemnation of Chick-fil-A shows that gays and lesbians are not accepting of "diversity." Such crap makes me sick to my stomach.

Do we live in Bizarro World or do we live in the United States of America?

Because in Bizarro World, there is this restaurant chain that serves chicken sandwiches and side dishes called "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and the Defense of Marriage Act.

In Bizarro World, institutions like Exodus International brainwash children into believing that their precious traits are demonic and evil. Exodus International also eats those chicken sandwiches and side dishes.

In Bizarro World, we live in the cushy land where many peple say: "Gays are free. What are you complaining about?" Yet we are barred from marrying who we love and live in a form of slavery based on the inequality of laws in America. We are banned from equality because they think we are less deserving of equal rights than they are. Many people sit in their cushy chairs and eat those sandwiches because they cannot be bothered with equality issues. It’s easy to do when you enjoy full equality and are not sitting on the other side of the issue.

In the extremely Bizarro parts of the world, we hear the enslaved, the gays, especially the YOUNG ones, who are ignorant of the sacrifices that their peers and their elders have given for the cause, use their Social Media to say: "What's the big deal? Chick-fil-A is so tasty!" Their sandwich of ignorance lacks the sauce. What sauce? The sauce that is the blood of gays who have died so they could dance freely at a gay club without the police dragging them out and beating them to bloody pulps. Oh, how we forget about THAT sauce.

Finally to all my straight friends who say they are my friends, my comrades, my family, all those who say that they irrevocable support gay rights. I see the crumbs of inequality on your lips. You can make your choice. Support the First Amendment while we are denied the 14th Amendment. While those waffle fries may taste delightful, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" killed my military brothers and sisters and left these who survived often destitute and in despair.

To all those out there who say that gays do not support diversity, listen carefully:



While you bite down on your sandwich, you speak very freely. It is your right. That why we fought for your rights when we joined the military.

I hope that one day I can leave Bizarro World, which calls me less than equal, and live in a land of equality called the United States of America. In Bizarro land, many claim the "Creator" is wrathful against the minority LGBT community. Instead, they ignore the message of Jesus and the most important words written in the Declaration of Independence:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Can someone send me that menu? I would love to order from it.
