Equality California, Courage Campaign renew calls for Manchester Hotel Boycott

The Courage Campaign and Equality California today renewed calls for the ongoing boycott against San Diego hotel magnate Doug Manchester, a major donor to Proposition 8. The 18-month boycott has already cost Manchester more than $7 million in lost convention revenue.

Courage Campaign petitions to televise the Prop 8 trial

Courage Campaign is encouraging people to help them keep the pressure on the court. The public comment period will be open through Friday, January 8. Courage Campaign has set a goal of 100,000 signatures by tomorrow at 9 a.m.

Happy Holidays Mr. President, from our family to yours

Today Equality California joins fellow national and local lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) family groups throughout the country in launching the From Our Family to Yours Campaign. In addition to spreading holiday cheer, the campaign will increase visibility and awareness about the need for federal protections for the LGBT community.

Winning Equality in New York and California

The news from the New York State Senate this week was sad to hear. In their vote on a bill that would have ended marriage discrimination against same-sex couples in the state, eight Democratic senators and five Republican senators who had indicated their willingness to vote for the bill ended up voting no. The bill did not pass.

Progress in D.C., Procrastination in New Jersey

NBC News reports that the District of Columbia City Council has voted 11-2 in favor of marriage equality. Meanwhile, in New Jersey, the State Legislature is backing off of earlier indications that they would pass a marriage equality bill before the end of the year.
