The Office of Equity and Racial Justice was established by the Board in June to identify systemic bias within the County organization.
Dear San Diego Community Member and Stakeholder,
The Leon L. Williams San Diego County Human Relations Commission invites you to provide your feedback on the draft mission statement for the County’s new Office of Equity and Racial Justice. The Office of Equity and Racial Justice (OERJ) was recently established by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors and a draft mission statement was recently co-created by community members.
Co-creating the mission statement for The Office of Equity and Racial Justice has consisted of multiple steps and involved various community members:
- Baseline/horizon group: 2 meetings with community groups actively involved in creating a draft of the OERJ mission statement
- Focus groups: focus groups of community members have reviewed and wordsmithed the draft mission statement
- Survey: this step seeks out community feedback on the draft mission statement to ensure that it represents the needs of the community and is inclusive of San Diego County’s various identities.
Please click this survey link to provide feedback on the draft mission statement by Monday, March 15.
It is essential that we hear from the diverse communities of San Diego, and so, we request that you forward this email broadly to the stakeholders within your networks. Please use any outreach mechanisms that you have available (e.g., listservs, newsletters, social media). We have also attached this email and linked survey in Arabic, Chinese, Filipino, Spanish and Vietnamese. Your perspective and your work in San Diego County are important.
