The awards recognize those in the San Diego region who have made an impact in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
In an effort to recognize the outstanding contributions made by persons involved in the struggle against the HIV/AIDS in the San Diego region, the San Diego HIV Planning Group (HIV) is weeking nominations for the 2020 A. Brad Truax Awards.
The annual awards honor the memory of Dr. Truax and his tireless dedication to prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS. Truax, who chaired the first advisory board on HIV/AIDS in the county, was a persistent and diplomatic person who encouraged people with different interests and agendas to work together to achieve goals that benefit the community.
The awards ceremony has traditionally been held on World AIDS Day, December 1, with a ceremony at the San Diego LGBT Community Center. This year's awards presentation will be held virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
