Community members are asked to sign a civility pledge to ensure a respectful, safe election process.
The People's Alliance for Justice (PAJ), a locally-based national human/civil rights organization, is calling on community members to sign a pledge to remain during and following the 2020 election.
The nonpartisan call was announced on Friday at a press conference outside the County of San Diego Administration featuring speakers including PAJ founder Rev. Shane Harris, County Supervisors Jim Desmond and Kristin Gaspar, former State Assemblymember Lori Saldana, and Executive Director of the San Diego Housing Federation Stephen Russell.
The pledge reads:
PLEDGE CIVILITY 2020
Join the nonpartisan call for a civil election: A nonpartisan call for a civil, respectful, and safe election.
People are scared and nervous from all sides of the political table and it is up to all of us to demonstrate civility and respect in this election.
Make the civil pledge now, ask us questions about where you can vote and file a civil rights complaint here.
