They are reading to the community once again.
Back in August of 2019 drag artists Barbie Q and Raquel Ita made headlines. They were going to be doing a highly controversial Drag Queen Storytime at the Civic Center Library Chula Vista.
The performance went on amid protest, but in the end, it was a great success.
Now Barbie Q and Raquel Ita are back, this time at the Lux Art Institute in Encinitas for Family Art Day.
Drag Queen Storytime is a children's event performed by these artists, who are also educators, to inspire a love of reading while teaching deeper lessons of building an equally diverse and inclusive society.
Lux Art Institute is inviting children and their families to participate in hands-on projects, storytelling, and the current exhibition of our Artists-in-Residence, Argentine duo, Chiachio & Giannone.
This event is free for all-ages and open to the public.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Saturday, March 7th, 10 am - 12 pm

Lux Art Institute is located at 1550 S. El Camino Real, Encinitas, CA 92024
