Gay YouTube personality Matthew Dempsey asks that you support his nieces' project.
Gay uncle and professional psychotherapist Matthew Dempsey isn't issuing an LGBT think piece on his YouTube channel this week, instead, he is turning his support to his family and their effort to make practical and tactical bracelets for the men and women in the military.
Created by his twin nieces, "Project Paracord" is their Girl Scout project guided by Dempsey's stepdad. Their goal is to raise enough money to handmake at least 2000 survival bracelets that can be used by service members on anything from shelter to first aid.
Dempsey explains, "Paracord survival bracelets are made up of 7.5 feet of incredibly strong parachute cord service members can wear at all times and use in emergency situations; tying up equipment, making shelter for the night, hauling heavy objects, making splints and slings for injuries, and much more."
The bracelets are a hit, the initial goal of $750 was raised in just a day and so a new goal of $1,500 was put in place.
