Senators urge overhaul of gay donor restrictions amid blood shortage

A group of senators are calling on the federal government to lift policies restricting gay and bisexual men from giving blood amid a nationwide donation shortage. Currently, men who have sex with men must remain celibate for a year before they are permitted to donate.

Imperial Court distributes grocery store gift cards to workers affected by COVID-19

The Imperial Court de San Diego has established an emergency fund to assist local community members whose livelihoods have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Over $5,000 worth of grocery store and food gift cards have been purchased or donated for distribution to those in need.

The queens are back for Storytime

Back in August of 2019 drag artists Barbie Q and Raquel Ita made headlines. They were going to be doing a highly controversial Drag Queen Storytime at the Civic Center Library Chula Vista. 

The performance went on amid protest, but in the end, it was a great success. 

Now Barbie Q and Raquel Ita are back, this time at the Lux Art Institute in Encinitas for Family Art Day.

Whether you have a green thumb or not the Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden could use your help. They are currently accepting volunteers, novice or experienced, to join the Rose Garden Corps.

Volunteers work in the garden trimming off dead blooms, weeding, raking, fertilizing, pruning and planting new varieties.
