U.C San Diego will recognize World AIDS Day on Thursday, December 1, by displaying sections of the AIDS Memorial Quilt.

This yearly affair hopes to not only educate San Diego about the AIDS crisis, but will offer lectures as well as entertainment during the presentation.

Throughout the week, there will be many displays located at the Library Walk, where students will be able to pick up red ribbons, as well as information on HIV/AIDS.

Sections of the AIDS Quilt will be on display Thursday, December 1, from 10 am to 7:30 pm at the Price Center East Ballroom.

The hour-long film “Compulsive Practice,” featuring artists affected by the epidemic will screen all day from 7:30 am to 10:30 pm on Thursday.

Also on Thursday, a UC San Diego physician from Owens Clinic will speak about PrEP from noon until 2 pm at the Price Center John Muir College Room.

“UC San Diego’s recognition of World AIDS Day helps to raise awareness about this devastating disease and our efforts to prevent, treat and combat it,” said Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla. “We are proud to be a leader in breakthrough research, education and patient care that transforms lives and helps to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.”
