The Red Dress Party is returning to San Diego on Saturday, October 8, at The San Diego Natural History Museum in Balboa Park.

This year’s theme is “Red & Wild,” something organizers hope will encourage people to be brave and let loose.

“We’re very excited to host this year’s event at such a grand venue with ‘Red & Wild’ as our new theme,” said Co-Founder Marvin Hanashiro. “We also have some stellar entertainment and surprises in store for this year’s attendees and can’t wait for everyone to revel in the celebration.”

Hanashiro isn’t giving away any details about the surprises, but one thing you can expect from Red Dress Party San Diego is music, dancing and having fun contributing to HIV/AIDS awareness.

All attendees will be required to wear a red dress, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation; a rule strictly enforced by the Red Dress team.

“This serves as a powerful sign of solidarity and compassion for all of us affected by HIV/AIDS and a way to unite the crowd in one radiant theme,” said Hanashiro.

Co-Founder Steven Shye says that not only is there a new venue for this year's event, but he also has a new goal.

“We are continuing to work with amazing local and national sponsors and hope to have another sold out event,” he said, “which will help us reach our new fundraising goal of $20,000 to benefit the San Diego HIV/AIDS community.”

The San Diego HIV Funding Collaborative (SDHFC) is the main beneficiary for the event.

SDHFC has served as a funding and advisory resource for HIV/AIDS services in the San Diego region since 1990 and is currently chaired by the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation.
