SAN DIEGO, California -- The sixth annual Lavender Graduation at San Diego State University (SDSU) will take place on Wednesday, May 6 at 2pm.
The purpose of the event is to celebrate the achievements of graduating members of SDSU's LGBTQA community and is open to all students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or allies.
More than 30 graduates will be honored during the ceremony. Each graduate will have the opportunity to address the audience and will receive a rainbow honor cord, graduation certificate and an invitation to join the SDSU LGBT Alumni Chapter.
In addition to graduation festivities, awards will be given to faculty, staff and alumni who have enhanced the campus climate for LGBTQA students.
This year's event was sponsored by alumni Robert DeKoven, Benny Cartwright, and Rick Cervantes.
