SAN DIEGO -- In a partnership with the Harvey Milk Foundation, Gay For Good has called for its chapters to participate in a "Harvey Milk Day of Service" project.
The San Diego Chapter is seeking volunteers for its project at the San Diego Food Bank on Tuesday, May 14 from 6-8 pm.
Volunteers will participate in a number of tasks to help The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank fulfill its mission of providing food to people in need, including packing boxes for distribution and sorting food items.
Gay For Good San Diego, one of eight chapters of the national organization, aims to energize and mobilize the LGBT community to interact with the greater San Diego community by volunteering time to various social welfare and environmental service projects. In its three year history, the group has participated in a number of service projects, including beach cleanups, habitat restoration, helping the homeless and numerous other events.
Those who wish to participate in the upcoming project need to complete a waiver, which can be downloaded from the files section of the Gay For Good San Diego Facebook page HERE. The waiver can be turned in at the project site on the evening of the event.
The San Diego Food Bank is located at 9850 Distribution Ave. in the Miramar area.
