Advocacy update from The Center

The Center is encouraging individuals to check their voter registration in advance of the upcoming Sept. 14 CA Gubernatorial Recall Election.

With the start of August, The Center is picking up our community engagement efforts on two important civic engagement actions. First, as announced by the California Secretary of State, a special election will be held on September 14th for the California Gubernatorial Recall Election.

This week, GLAAD partnered with the Freedom & Opportunity For All Coalition and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jewel to send phone messages to LGBTQ people and allies across the United States inviting them to participate in a virtual town hall to learn more about the Equality Act and what they can do to support it.

As we know, San Diego is experiencing a housing crisis and many in our LGBTQ community are experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness. 40% of youth who are homeless are LGBTQ, and we know that their lives, as well those of LGBTQ adults, are significantly harder, and that real disparities exist in housing for our community.
