SAN DIEGO -- The local chapter of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) has made applications available for its annual student scholarship program.
The purpose of the program is to recognize outstanding undergraduate and graduate students, encourage them to continue post-secondary education, and promote a positive image of LGBT youth.
PFLAG San Diego awards a number of scholarships to deserving students at its annual Awards Ceremony, which will be held this year on May 20. A number of individuals, foundations, and corporations have partnered with PFLAG to make the funds available for the scholarships.
Students who are interested in applying should meet the following requirements:
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Resident of San Diego County at time of application
- LGBT high school continuing to full-time undergraduate study, or
- LGBT full-time undergraduate or graduate students
- Able to attend the San Diego PFLAG Awards Ceremony on May 20 in person.
Applicants will complete an application form and an essay, and submit a letter of recommendation, unofficial transcript, and statement of financial need.
Application packets must be submitted via e-mail by April 1. Hand-delivered applications will not be accepted.
