Hillcrest restaurant offers Specials Menu and requests drop off of warm winter items for elders
SAN DIEGO – Pita Jungle will donate 10% of the proceeds from its Specials Menu to Meals-on-Wheels, effective through Dec. 31.
With items like the Curried Coconut Soup with Chickpeas or the Wood-Fired Cod Salad, Pita Jungle offers a menu to keep warm and healthy during a season that is loaded with casseroles and sweets. Meals-on-Wheels supports San Diego seniors.
When Pita Jungle in Hillcrest approached Debbie Case, CEO/president of Meals-on-Wheels Greater San Diego, to partner during the holidays, Case jumped right in, saying she was excited to team up with a restaurant sharing Meals-on-Wheels’ values.
“With our focus on serving healthy foods to our seniors, Pita Jungle is just the right restaurant for us,” Case said.
In addition to the financial support, Pita Jungle is inviting customers to drop off warm winter items for the “Warm Wishes” initiative to collect scarves, socks and blankets to give to seniors to keep them warm during the cold winter months. To encourage customers to support Meals-on-Wheels, Pita Jungle is offering a free small dip with entrée purchase for those who donate an item.
Proceeds will help Meals-on-Wheels Greater San Diego continue to support the independence of seniors by providing regular nutrition and daily contact with caring volunteers. In some instances, this is the only contact these seniors receive, which is essential to their overall well-being.
