SAN DIEGO -- Mama’s Kitchen will host a kickoff party for volunteers to launch the eighth annual Mama’s Pie in the Sky Thanksgiving Bake Sale tonight at the organization's headquarters in City Heights.
Volunteers will be selling holiday pies as individuals and teams, in an effort to raise money for the HIV/AIDS assistance program.
Pie sellers have been set with a goal of raising more than 6,000 pies over the course of a six-week sales period, hoping to raise $125,000 to pay for nearly 40,000 meals.
Mama's Kitchen is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization, that prepares and delivers food to men, women and children who are affected by AIDS or cancer, every single day.
The pie sale is the largest bake on the West Coast, according to organizers, and additional volunteers are needed. To find out how to volunteer or to purchase pies, click HERE.
Tonight's event, which begins at 6 pm, will include fun games like basketball shooting, apple stacking and others, along with food and drinks.
Pies will be sold through Nov. 18 for $20. Flavors include fresh pumpkin, pecan, apple and no-sugar added apple pies.
