SAN DIEGO -- A pool party will be held this Sunday, Sept. 2, to benefit Being Alive, San Diego's oldest HIV/AIDS service provider.
The event, called "Diving for Being Alive," will take place from 12-4 pm at the Hillcrest estate of Mike and Billy Weiss.
In recent years, Being Alive has reported that is has been struggling financially, but has made do with limited resources to ensure that its clients continue to receive the best services possible. Numerous fundraisers have been held in recent months to help the organization survive, including a Carnival at Bourbon Street Bar & Grill earlier this month.
Being Alive utilizes four strategies to provide its services which are: health and wellness promotion; early intervention, education and prevention; adherence and medication support; and life skills education and support.
Sunday's pool party is being hosted by numerous community personalities, including Big Mike Phillips and Susan Jester, organizer of the first AIDS Walk in San Diego.
A $20 donation is being requested at the door, and guests are invited to bring a swimsuit and towel if they would like to swim. Burgers, hot dogs and beverages will be served, and DJ Rob Klaproth will spin. There will also be an opportunity to win prizes for a donation of $5 to $100, with the "Mermaid & Merman Dives for Donated Gifts."
The estate is located at 1041 Cypress St.
