L.A. premiere of Dustin Lance Black's "8" to stream live Saturday | VIDEO

LOS ANGELES -- An all-star cast featuring Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Martin Sheen, Kevin Bacon and Jane Lynch, will read Dustin Lance Black's play "8" as part of the Los Angeles premiere this Saturday, March 3.

In a partnership with Google and YouTube, the play will be streamed live for the world to watch from home.

The pre-show starts at 7:30 pm PT with the curtain call at 7:45 pm.

“8" chronicles the historic trial in the federal legal challenge to California’s Proposition 8. Because video footage of the trial has not been released to the public, Black used actual trial transcripts to write the script and intertwined them with the personal stories of the two couples challenging Prop 8 in court.

The play premiered on Broadway in September during a one-night fundraiser benefiting the American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER), and will begin a nationwide tour.

Saturday's premiere is an effort to raise visibility for marriage equality.

Tickets to see the premiere live at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in L.A. have sold out but AFER is encouraging community members to RSVP to view the production online.

AFER will also provide behind the scenes updates on Twitter, including photos from the red carpet via @AFER and the hashtag #8LA.

Locally, "8" will be read next fall at San Diego State University on Oct. 12. Guests of SDSU's "Supporting Students ~ Saving Lives" conference last weekend got a taste of the play as members of the local cast read an excerpt to the crowd at the Friday night opening session.
