PFLAG San Diego to discuss cyber bullying at meeting Monday

SAN DIEGO -- PFLAG San Diego will include a special presentation on cyber bullying at its monthly meeting at 7 pm Monday, Feb. 27.

Parents, Friends and Families of Lesbians and Gay (PFLAG) is a support, education, and advocacy organization with chapters throughout the world. The San Diego chapter is an all volunteer group made up of parents, family and friends of LGBT people.

Marcie Denberg-Serra, assistant director of the Anti-Defamation League of San Diego County, will discuss cyber bullying and how it relates to and affects the LGBT community. In just one of a number of reported instances, gay college student Tyler Clementi committed suicide in 2010 after being the victim of cyber bullying at Rutgers University.

The meeting will also include the regular support groups and PFLAG's "famous" cookie social.

Everyone is welcome to attend PFLAG's meetings, which are held at First United Methodist Church, 2231 Camino del Rio South, in Mission Valley. Doors open at 6:45 pm.
