SAN DIEGO -- Just a week after The San Diego LGBT Community Center announced that it received a $5,000 grant from Union Bank Foundation to support its Youth Housing Project (YHP), another $10,000 donation has come in from Bank of America Foundation.
The funds from the B of A grant will also be used to support the YHP as well as the Hillcrest Youth Center, which is a drop-in and recreational center dedicated to serving the needs of of LGBTQ youth ages 14-18. The YHP provides safe and supportive housing for homeless youth in the region, including those who are LGBT and HIV-positive.
"We are fortunate to have dedicated friends like Bank of America who believe so strongly in our mission," said Christopher Mills, The Center's major gifts officer. "This year alone, The Center provided more than 50,000 hours of direct program services to people throughout San Diego County. Generous grants like this one from Bank of America Foundation help make that work possible, and we greatly appreciate their support."
A representative from Bank of America said that the company is pleased to support community efforts, such as those provided by The Center.
