SAN DIEGO -- Music lovers and others who wish to help the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank can support the organization by attending the first-ever AimLoan.com San Diego Blues Festival fundraiser.

The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, from 11 am to 8 pm on the waterfront at Embarcadero Marina Park North and include 10 local and national blues acts who will perform on two stages.

People of all ages are welcome to the family-friendly event, which will also include international food booths, local craft beer and wine vendors, along with arts and crafts vendors.

Musical performers include Tommy Castro, who was named Blues Entertainer of the Year; James Cotton, the legendary Mississippi harmonica player; and Grammy-nominee Tracy Nelson.

Tickets to the event are $10 plus two cans of food, and organizers say that each admission will pay for the Food Bank to feed 30 meals to San Diegans in need.

The San Diego Food Bank was established in 1977 and has provided food to people in need, advocated for the hungry, and educated the public about hunger-related issues since then.

The Food Bank serves as a central depository and distribution point for food supplied by the government and through donations. The organization relies on foundations, grants, the USDA, corporations, sponsors and donations form the public to serve over 18 million pounds of food per year.
